We were contracted by the Niagara Region to enhance pedestrian safety by installing a new crosswalk on Main Street in Beamsville, directly in front of the Jacob Beam Public School. Given the busy nature of this road, we took a comprehensive approach to ensure minimal disruption while maximizing safety for students and the community.
Our team began with directional drilling under the roadway to run necessary conduits, preventing the need for more invasive excavation. We then removed the existing sidewalks and poured new concrete sidewalks to ensure a smooth and durable surface. Concrete bases were poured to support the installation of steel sectional poles, which were securely placed on these bases to hold the traffic signals.
To ensure proper electrical connectivity, we installed URD boxes and pulled cable for the signals. Once the infrastructure was in place, we completed the project by applying line painting on the roadway to clearly mark the new crosswalk. Finally, we restored the area with fresh sod, leaving the site clean and looking pristine.
This project demonstrates our expertise in managing complex installations that improve public safety while ensuring minimal disruption to the community.
